FINALS!!! oh yeah and Christmas time too!!
I am so excited that it is finally finals time. Luckily i'm not going to have that hard of a time, I have one final tomorrow(monday) and its open book, a final that i have to do through out the week and turn it in on friday and part two of my math final( which is only 15 questions) on friday! and then i get to go home!! i am so excited.
And also it is almost christmas time!! woo-hoo!!
hahah but yeah i cannot wait until christmas, cause then after christmas my dad will come home in like a month!! i am so happy. it seems like he has been gone forever, but really he has only been gone since august. And i've only gone home once this semester unlike my usual every weekend of going home.
and in honor of finals week, me and two of my roommates took some amazing pictures via webcam that i will be sure to post at a later date :)
Have a Great day!

Vegetarian...
so i have been a partial vegetarian for quite sometime now. which just means that i dont eat beef or any other meat that comes from a cow(like steak and stuff). I also dont eat other meats alot either, the one that i really do eat is chicken. i just love chicken, but i'm kinda getting tired of it. maybe i'll start eating tofu...
but anyway, chelsea(my older sister) was reading online the other day about how they prepare meat and stuff, in short she got totally grossed out and has now decided to become a vegan. because it is so sad what they do to the animals just to make them be able to prepare more faster. i could never become a vegan just because i like ice cream. and i've tried the soy ice cream and that just doesnt cut it.
i just cant believe that chelsea is really gonna go vegan.
but there are so many different kind of vegetarians....
People often point to some food item and ask me, “Can you eat this?” My answer is always “Sure, I can eat whatever I want.” I choose not to eat certain things. When deciding what type of vegetarian you want to be, think about what you want to include or avoid. You don’t need to fit into one of these categories, but understanding them will help you think about your short-term and long-term goals.
1. Pescatarian (also spelled pescetarian)The word “pescatarian” is occasionally used to describe those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. Although the word is not commonly used, more and more people are adopting this kind of diet, usually for health reasons or as a stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet.
Pescetarians often believe that moderate consumption of fish or fish oils, which are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, is necessary for optimum health, although vegetarian alternatives, such as flax seed oil, are available.
2. Flexitarian/Semi-vegetarianYou don’t have to be vegetarian to love vegetarian food! “Flexitarian” is a term recently coined to describe those who eat a mostly vegetarian diet, but occasionally eat meat.
Many people have given up red meat for health reasons while others, for environmental reasons, only eat free-range or organic animals and animal products. Beware, however, that many full-time vegetarians strongly resent the use of this term as such headlines as “Meat-eating vegetarian” confuse and dilute the definition of a “true” vegetarian diet.
3. Vegetarian (Lacto-ovo- vegetarian)When most people think of vegetarians, they think of lacto-ovo-vegetarians. People who do not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish or animal flesh of any kind, but do eat eggs and dairy products are lacto-ovo vegetarians (“lacto” comes from the Latin for milk, and “ovo” for egg).
Lacto-vegetarian is used to describe a vegetarian who does not eat eggs, but does eat dairy products.
Ovo-vegetarian refers to people who do not eat meat or dairy products but do eat eggs.
Definition: When most people think of vegetarians, they think of lacto-ovo-vegetarians: People who do not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish or animal flesh of any kind, but do eat eggs and dairy products are lacto-ovo vegetarians (“lacto” comes from the Latin for milk, and “ovo” for egg). This is the most common type of vegetarian in North America.
4. VeganVegans do not eat meat of any kind and also do not eat eggs, dairy products, or processed foods containing these or other animal-derived ingredients such as gelatin. Many vegans also refrain from eating foods that are made using animal products that may not contain animal products in the finished process, such as sugar and some wines. There is some debate as to whether certain foods, such as honey, fit into a vegan diet.
Veganism is a type of vegetarian diet that excludes meat, eggs, dairy products and all other animal-derived ingredients. Many vegans also do not eat foods that are processed using animal products, such as refined white sugar and some wines. Most vegans also avoid the use of all products tested on animals, as well as animal-derived non-food products, such as leather, fur and wool.Vegan refers to either a person who follows this way of eating, or to the diet itself.
5. Raw vegan/Raw food dietA raw vegan diet consists of unprocessed vegan foods that have not been heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46 degrees Celsius). “Raw foodists” believe that foods cooked above this temperature have lost a significant amount of their nutritional value and are harmful to the body.
Definition: A raw vegan diet consists of unprocessed vegan foods that have not been heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46 degrees Celsius). “Raw foodists” believe that foods cooked above this temperature have lost a significant amount of their nutritional value and are harmful to the body. Many people clarify that they eat a “high raw” or a certain percentage raw, such as “75% raw”. A few people include raw, unprocessed dairy products in their diet, but most follow a raw vegan diet. Proponents claim that there are many benefits to the diet, including weight loss, more energy, clear skin and improved overall health. The raw foods diet has seen an increase in popularity in recent years with raw food restaurants opening in several major cities. It still remains to be seen if this trend is here to stay or is merely another passing fad.
6. MacrobioticThe macrobiotic diet, revered by some for its healthy and healing qualities, includes unprocessed vegan foods, such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and allows the occasional consumption of fish. Sugar and refined oils are avoided. Perhaps the most unique qualifier of the macrobiotic diet is its emphasis on the consumption of Asian vegetables, such as daikon, and sea vegetables, such as seaweed.

haha so there are many different kind of vegetarians...this is the kind that i am :)
Pollo-Vegetarians: People who eat poultry, such as chicken, turkey, and duck but no other type of animal flesh and meat and the regular vegetarian ingredients are termed as pollo vegetarians.
haha so you might be wondering why i even posted this...its just because i wanted to know a little more about it and thought you might too :)

When you take away the nasty sweaty people, the smells, and the over crowded arena it was the most amazing concert ever!
it was like 4 1/2 hours long which kinda was lame but they had 5 bands! versa merge, rocket to the moon, THE MAINE(which was my favorite), cobra starship, and boys like girls. it was amazing and a much needed break from school.

It looks like...
So it looks like i wont have to wait for the end of the semester for all of my friends to leave. :(
On saturday Kyle left... i was so sad. but we still get to talk and he asked if i wanted to go to a concert with him if he came down. but he isnt going to be coming down until december if thats the case, which is a total bummer...
On the plus side...
TANYA AND CHELSEA B ARE COMING TO VISIT ME!!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!
Yeah so they are coming on thursday night. They are going to tour campus on friday morning while im in class. And i just asked them if they want to go to class with me and they said yes but little do they know its one of the most boring classes. hahahahahhaha. Were also going to go to a haunted house, a corn maze and have a scary movie party. We'll probably go trick 'r treating just for the heck of it too. The hardest thing to do is decide what i am going to make them to eat. i'll probably just make them dinner and then for the rest they can decide.

Midterms!
MY favorite people (minus a couple people)
Its already midterms! I can't believe it! These semesters fly by so fast.
And I only have one semester left, lol, but i'll only have my associates in generals and then i'm going to figure out what I am going to do. Only 7 weeks left, but I am going to be so sad when i have to leave all of my friends :(
But today I had the best class ever, we had to go and turn in an assignment. I knew that he was going to grade all of ours while we were in class, but i was exactly sure how he was going to do that. Turns out he does it first come, first serve. and I got there before class even started and was done before it started...pretty sweet, eh?

Oh and on wednesday I went to the BoysLikeGirsl Concert! It was pretty sweet. Versaemerge, Rocket to the Moon, The Maine and Cobrastarship all opened for them. It was one of the best concerts ever. (i'll post pictures later)
Oh, and I finally figured out how to change my background. Its pretty sweet if i do say so myself. :)

Aww Life...
Life is so complicated sometimes. its kinda annoying but everything happens for a reason.
the one thing i truly despise the most about life is going to the doctor...they can never figure out whats wrong with me. i've already gone in twice and now they have decided i need a CT scan to make sure that my shunt is working properly, since i have had a headache for a week and a half and its not getting any better. so i'll go in to get my CT scan on tuesday and then we'll see where it goes from there.
School is going good. really smooth. the other day for devotional Elder Oaks came and talked about religious freedoms being threatened. it was a good talk but now there is a lot of controversy about it. class are going good, but my math teacher is the most boring teacher on the planet.
The other day we went to the duck pond. (thats what the pictures are from) The ducks come right up to you and they'll even eat out of your hand.
I also went to Montana for G.C. weekend. it was a blast. my friend/roommate has chickens at her house(where we stayed) and we got to feed them! i am in love with chickens.
i decided that i want to live on a farm when i get older. but just a small farm with chickens, cows, a pig or two and maybe a horse. i dont know what other animals i'll have but its gonna be really fun. Her cousin came with us to and we had a blast. we didnt even really do anything but it was so much fun.

life is grand
As some of you know i was majoring in preschool education, but i had to change my major. they wanted me to redo 8 credits! 8!! thats almost a full load of credits. so i decided to change my major, now im just doing general studies with a cluster in child studies. and now i'll graduate with my associates in july :) i was hoping that i would be able to do fast-track to graduate early, but you have to have 50 credits to do that and at the end of this semester i'll only have 46 and then i'll be graduating the semester after that but oh well. and then i might go to beauty school. i'll upload some pictures later too :]]]

my 1st preschool teaching experience!
So i've been preparing for it for over two weeks and i was really nervous. but how bad can it be their only preschoolers right? Well yesterday i went to set up my class room and it took me about an hour and half, but it saved me from having to get up at 5 to get there and set up this morning so i'm really grateful that i did that.
I taught on bugs that help our gardens. but the kids in my class dont like to listen very well so we basically just talked about bugs in general. and of course since today was my first day ever teaching all 18 of the kids had to be there.
We start the day off by check-ins and i was the greeter. its super easy you just sit by the door and then welcome the kids and ask them to put their stuff in their cubbies and help them find their name tag so then you can pin it on them. and after they get it on you ask them to go wash their hands.
after washing their hands there are multiple activities set up for them and they have free choice time. i had the cootie bug game set up, a math counter game, a place for them to play house, blocks, playdough with cookie cutters and rolling pins etc, letter beads and string for them to make necklaces with their names on them, a sensory table filled with sand and bugs(plastic ones) to search through, and their favorite activity of all was the science one. I had set out baggies for them to use and with the help of another teacher they could squirt the paint in to the bags and see how it mixed together and changed with every color that they put in. this one kid was so excited to show me and take it home to show his parents.
Then after we clean up from free choice we have gathering time, which is large group. I was going to talk about how bugs help our gardens and have them help me figure out which ones did and didnt but none of them were really cooperating, so i read them a book call "why insects are good" or something like that, and we acted out some of the actions that bugs do. and then the teachers passed out some"pollen" for them to sprinkle on a large flower that i had made and i showed them how it made the flower grow.
Its so funny to hear all of the random things that they say, like this one kid was talking about a grasshopper and this other girl just goes "i have fish at my house"they are so cute.
But after group time we have focus activites. which are sorta like free choice but i choose where the kids go. and they are more focused on what we talked about in gathering time. i had 4 activites set up. 1. was bug collages- i had printed out some ladybugs and some bees for them to glue stuff on, like pom pom balls, pipe cleaners, feathers, beads, buttons, googly eyes, sequins. and then they went to town gluing on whatever they wanted.2.They pretended to be wiggly worms. it was so cute. they would lay down on a blanket that was layed out and then roll up in it and wiggle around like a worm, but one kid wanted to be a butterfly so he acted like he was a caterpillar and then rolled up in his blanket to form a chrysalis and then jump and yell "im a butterfly" it was adorable.3.it was a ladybug matching game, i had some ladybugs with velcro spots on them and a dice for them to roll and then which ever number they got was how many dots they put on or for the older ones they could take them off (so they were doing addition and subtraction)4. Heres the best one!! hahah not reallyi went to walmart last night and bought some worms, and then put them in a sensory table filled with potting soil so the kids could dig thru and play with the worms.. one kid didnt like the worms and didnt think the others should play with it so he would knock the worms out of their hands everytime they picked them up.
and then after we were done with this we went outside and rode bikes and stuff and then came in side and had snack.
Then it was time for closing circle.
We danced with ribbons to some songs and then read a book called the very busy spider. its so fun with little kids because they will all make the sounds with you about like the animals and stuff. and by this time most of the kids have gotten picked up. but there was about two kids left and so i turned the music back on so we could dance. and one kid had to go to the bathroom. and when he was done it was time for him to leave, but i didnt realize it was so important that he knew that i knew that he was leaving so i was having too much fun dancing around and he runs up to me and goes "teacher, i have to leave now, bye"
it was sooooooo cute!!
so after all the kids have gone home we have time to assess how we think we did and for the other teachers to give us pointers or to tell us things that they saw. we'll i didnt even realize it but one of my supervising teachers had left during free time and went in to the observation booth to observe how all of us did, so at post-lab she handed us these papers. and she said i was really aware of everything that was going on and did a good job talking with all of the kids...but i didnt even notice she was gone.LOL
and then another girl said she couldnt believe this was my first time ever teaching because i seemed so confident and acted like i knew everything that was going on. well im glad that it seemed that way cause that was not how i felt. but it was alot easier then i thought it was going to be and i think i stressed way more then i needed too. lol

Bueno.
As some of you know i am going to school to become a preschool teacher! i am so excited. this semester we have already started getting out lessons ready because preschool starts on May4th! wow its so close. i wrote my first lesson plan , it was so stressful. i was scared that it was gonna be totally wrong, but my supervisors we're amazing and really helpful. So i just gave it to them so they can critique it and when i get back to them i have to give it to my "boss" who is actual faculty here.
I am so excited to teach preschool! i love kids! but not there little chairs :(
we had a parent orientation meeting the other day and we had to sit in the little chairs and me being not so intelligent went tanning a couple hours before the meeting. and just my luck i burnt my butt! yeah, im not lying, it hurts so bad. lol
But i only have two more semesters left!! i cannot wait!
I have this really big resource file that i have to put together, so if anyone has any ideas for activites, science experiments, writing activities, language, sensory tables...anything! please let me know :)
Lets see other than that hmm...
well i miss my family mucho. all of them. im not talking about just my parents and siblings but my grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins! i hope that when this semester is over i will be able to go down and see them, especially because we'll have two new additions to the family :)
School is going really well. all of my classes have something to do with preschool except for one and thats a math class. i love school and i am so thankful that i have this opportunity to learn more and more everyday. im already counting down the days until the end of the semester, i will admit.
I love my new ward. its so much fun to be where people want to be together and are all working toward the same goal. its amazing. And my roommates...its an adventure. and a learning experience. its really helping me work on tolerance and patience which is good cause i'll need it when i'm teaching.
